Safeguarding

Safeguarding means protecting people's health, wellbeing and human rights, and enabling them to live free from harm, abuse and neglect. It is a core part of providing good health care.

Those most in need of protection include children and young people, and adults who may be at greater risk — including people with physical, sensory or mental impairments, people with learning disabilities, and people receiving care at home.

Kiam Clinic aims to ensure that everyone who uses our services is free from abuse and neglect. At Kiam Clinic we recognise that safeguarding is everybody's business.

Safeguarding adults

Some adult patients are at increased risk of harm, in the community and while using our services, because a health condition or disability makes them more dependent on others. They may need extra support to keep them safe from abuse or neglect.

All our staff receive mandatory safeguarding training relevant to their role, and are responsible for alerting our Safeguarding Lead to any concern about, or suspicion of, abuse of an adult at risk.

Safeguarding children and young people

We provide ADHD and autism assessments for children and young people. Where we see anyone under 18, safeguarding children applies in full alongside our duties to adults: staff working with children are trained to the level their role requires, and any concern about a child's welfare is raised with the Safeguarding Lead without delay and, where necessary, referred to local authority children's social care.

Our Safeguarding Lead

Our Safeguarding Lead works to ensure we provide care that prevents safeguarding concerns arising, responds effectively where harm or abuse does occur, works with other agencies such as social services and the police to promote patient safety, and provides advice and support on matters concerning people at risk.

To raise a safeguarding concern, email the Safeguarding Lead at enquiries@kiamclinic.com. Copies of our Safeguarding Adults Policy and our Safeguarding Children Policy are available on request.

Kiam Clinic reserves the right to decline new patients where we determine that we cannot appropriately manage their care and the associated risks.

If someone is in immediate danger
