Confidentiality Policy

Maintaining the security and confidentiality of the information you tell us — your personal details and your medical history — is a top priority at Kiam Clinic.

We are also bound by the confidentiality standards of our clinicians' professional regulators. This means that in rare and specific circumstances, where there is a threat of serious harm, there may be a requirement to disclose important information.

If you begin treatment with medication, Kiam Clinic is obliged to share relevant information with other healthcare professionals involved in your care, such as your GP, in order to follow General Medical Council guidance on safe prescribing. Further information is available from the General Medical Council.

Children and young people

Where the patient is a child or young person, information is normally shared with the person holding parental responsibility. A young person able to understand the decision may also have their own expectation of confidentiality, which we will discuss with them and with their parent or guardian.

How this fits with our other policies

How we store and handle your information, who else receives it and how long we keep it are set out in our privacy policy. Our duty to act where someone may be at risk of harm is set out in our safeguarding information.
