This page describes what this website stores on your device. It does not cover the clinical records system used for your care, which is described in our privacy notice.
The short version
We set a small number of cookies that are necessary for the site to work at all. We would also like to count visits so we can see which pages are useful, and we only do that if you agree. We do not use advertising cookies, we do not track you across other websites, and we do not sell or share anything about your visit.
Cookies we set because the site cannot work without them
These do not ask permission, because the law does not require it for storage that is strictly necessary to provide a service you asked for.
- kiam_sessionid — keeps you signed in. Staff only; it is not set for ordinary visitors. Expires after 12 hours.
- csrftoken — protects forms against cross-site request forgery, so that another website cannot submit an enquiry as if it were you.
- kiam_a11y — remembers your display choices (text size, contrast, reduced motion, dyslexia-friendly font) if you use the accessibility panel. It is only set once you change something.
- kiam_consent — remembers your answer to the cookie banner, so we do not ask again. Expires after six months, and we ask again then.
Cookies we set only if you agree
Analytics. We count page views to see which pages people find useful. Our analytics software runs on a server we control, at analytics.kiamclinic.com. It does not store an identifier on your device and does not follow you to other websites. Like any web server it briefly sees the IP address your request comes from, but it does not keep it: the address is combined with your browser type into a scrambled value that lets us count one visit as one visit, and is then discarded. Nothing about your visit reaches a company other than us, and nothing goes to an advertising network.
We still ask before switching it on. On a mental health clinic's website, the fact that somebody read a particular page can itself be sensitive, and we would rather ask than assume.
These are properties of the analytics software we chose and of the way we have configured it on our own server. We have not had them independently audited.
Content from other organisations
Semble — our booking pages contain a booking tool provided by Semble, the clinical system the clinic uses. When you open a booking page, your browser connects to Semble and Semble may store data on your device as part of providing the booking. That connection is part of the booking service you came to the page to use, so it is not covered by the banner above. If you would rather not use it, every booking page also gives you a phone number, an email address and an enquiry form, and they reach the same clinic.
Apart from Semble, pages on this site load nothing from any other organisation. Our fonts and our images are served from this website itself, and the one remaining script — the analytics above — comes from analytics.kiamclinic.com, which is our own server rather than somebody else’s. There is no content delivery network, no font service, no social media widget and no advertising tag.
